A listing of terms often used to describe DBM armies and/or seen in discussions on the dbmlist.

EAP - Early Achemenid Persian

EIR - Early Imperial Roman

KMDT - Khazar mounted drill team, expanding a column into line having wheeled the head of the column to face in the desired direction at the end of the move immediately before the expansion. Using march moves if you advance a column and wheel the head 90 degrees you can then as your second move deploy into line facing in the direction of the head of the column.

LAP - Later Achemenid Persian

LIR - Late Imperial Roman

LPIA - Later Pre-Islamic Arab

NMDT - Norman mounted drill team, advancing a column of spontaneous troops past the end of an enemy line then letting them go and allowing the impetuous moves to bring them in the direction you want.

NKE - New Kingdom Egyptian

OTA - One True Army. A nickname for Burgundian Ordonnance.

Pin & punch - A style of play where you aim to hold the enemy in place with light troops while maneuvering a hard hitting force to just the right place. It was far easier to do in version 3.0 than in 3.1

Pip Dump - A regular command that is designed to take the lowest PIP dice most bounds, hence boosting the average PIPs for the other regular commands in the army. It is often a micro command of 1-7 elements in a 4 command army or a mainly LH command or a HI command under the CnC in a 3 command army.

Quick-Kill - the ability of some troop types to destroy other troop-types by simply rolling higher higher than them in combat (instead of having to double them).

RSP - Reigate Standard Patsy, a term used to define the Patrican Roman armies popular in the Reigate club in the days of DBM 2.1. Continued in popularity under DBM 3.0 but rarely seen in DBM 3.1.

SBPF - Small But Perfectly Formed. Used to describe small armies composed almost entirely of S or otherwise elite troops. Relatively rare since DBM 2.1.

WOC - Wall of cr*p. Used for very large armies of poor quality troops that can fill the board.

ZoC - Zone of control, the 40mm space in front of each element
