This is a much overlooked list, all the cavalry dismount (except the lh), it has supporting psiloi, and a couple of lh ee's with the added extra of a wb(o) ally with dismounting Cv {wb(s)}
I came very close to winning the ceasars challenge with this army, but was defeated by peter stone with an early vietnamese list in the final game (goddamn elephants!), and it was close…. I was fighting his c in c for the game when he broke me after losing squillions of kn to bw fire… he won the comp and I was 5th or 6th overall, I don't remember.
3 gen ir kn(f) 57/57
15 ir kn(f) 135/192
18 ir bw(I) 54/246
12 ir sp(I) 36/282
1 ir hd (o) 1/283
12 ir ps(o) 24/307
1 ir lh(o) 5/312
1 ir lh (s) 7/319
burgundy ally
ally ir cv(o) 12/331
3 ir cv(o) 21/352
12 ir wb(o) 48/400
this army dismounts across the board as sp(o) and wb(s), has plenty of mounted without any real lh, is comparable to any norman list. The fact that the allied cv dismount as wb(s) is pretty special…. Ie. 16 wb on flank march…..
Looks good - but if the Burgundians flank march their cavalry have to
arrive as Cv(O), not Wb(S), then it's 2 PIPs each to dismount them.
I'd rather flank march with one of the Ostrogoth commands - I find
that a few Kn(F) turning up behind the enemy lines are rather good at
causing havoc.
