The DBM Army List Resource

This page is intended to help new (and not so new) players of the DBM (De Belis Multitudinus) wargames rules pick and organise their armies. On this page you'll find:

  • lots of basic advice for choosing and organising DBM armies, plus
  • contributed example army lists and commentary on how those lists are intended to be played.

There is a special section on popular army choices for new players and how best to translate those ideas into capable DBM armies (see Some classic/popular armies for beginners). Most of the information here comes from members of the dbmlist yahoo group for DBM.

Please contribute - the password for editing the pages is dbmlist07

Most Wanted

The following armies need example lists/play notes to round out our basic advice for "Some classic/popular armies for beginners". Contributions would be especially welcome for:

2 56 Early Imperial Roman

3 28 Carolingian Frankish

3 51 West Frankish or Norman

3 54 Early Samurai

3 55 Khitan-Liao

4 14 Jurchen-Chin

4 39 Navarrese

4 48 Yuan Chinese

4 62 100 Years War English

4 68 Medieval Spanish or Portuguese

We are also now looking for contributions to a new section, Some Armies Recommended for Beginners, which includes armies that experienced players think might be suitable for beginners based on game-play rather than historical considerations.

Great job Rob. I wish you all the success in keeping DBM alive. FoG has taken the GulfSouth in the US by storm, DBM is just a pleasant memory, f or me now.
It is a good rules set, unforturnately the egos of one of the authors got in the way. Good luck and hope to see you in Washington for the IWF in May.
best regards
